Job Summary

The High School Program Specialist is responsible for providing support to the CYD High School Site Coordinator by developing and delivering lessons, managing community partnerships, and coordinating a variety of activities to support the academic and professional development of youth in our Post High School Readiness and Youth Advisory Council program. This role will involve engaging students in real-world learning experiences and connecting them with professionals. The Program Specialist will also play a key role in maintaining accurate program records and meeting all grant requirements. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans focused on the 40 Developmental Assets, post-high school readiness, including career exploration, life skills, and college preparation. 
  • Coordinate monthly guest speakers from various professional fields to provide students with real-world insights and career inspiration. 
  • Plan and organize field trips and volunteer opportunities that offer hands-on learning experiences and expose students to different career paths and post-high school opportunities. 
  • Serve as a representative at youth fairs, seminars, and other outreach activities to educate families about the CYD program, as needed to fulfill CYD grant requirements. 
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with students, families, and community partners about CYD events, deadlines, and program updates. 
  • Qualify potential participants for eligibility in the program and establish/update participant files as needed. 
  • Attend meetings and trainings as directed by the CYD High School Coordinator, CYD Program Director or Executive Director.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization/grant, including those related to health and safety, client confidentiality, and quality management.
  • Participate in all program activities with youth as assigned.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned. 
Job Qualifications
  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • At least 1 year of related experience.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to present educational material to youth in an engaging and impactful way.
  • Experience with community organizations and volunteer coordination is a plus. 
  • Learn and support the YWCA mission, vision, and policies to meet the goals of the organization without compromise.
  • Present self professionally in appearance and mannerism at all times.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours from time to time, including evenings or weekends.
  • Frequent local travel required; must possess a valid driver’s license. 
  • Pass a criminal history background check and FBI fingerprint check.
  • Communicate effectively with youth, colleagues and parents.
  • Familiarity with all legal and company requirements related to serving youth in appropriate and inspiring ways.
  • Understanding of cultural sensitivities.
  • Maintain a current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Good computer skills.

  • Occasionally work at outdoor and indoor events for extended periods of time.
