Fitness Instructor
The YWCA is a seeking high-energy and self-motivated fitness instructor. This role leads, instructs and motivates individuals and groups in exercise activities including cardiovascular exercise, strength training and stretching with clients of all ages and skill sets. Essential Job Responsibilities
- Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down.
- Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
- Prepares appropriate equipment, music, and handouts for each class.
- Assists patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for members and class participants.
- Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs.
- Ensures safety standards are met and department, facility policies are adhered to.
- Reports class attendance to Sports & Fitness Director daily or weekly.
- Perform related job duties as required.
Job Qualifications
- Learn and support the YWCA mission, vision, and policies to meet the goals of the organization without compromise, serving as a role model for the Lubbock community both in demeanor and in life-style habits.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Aquatics or land fitness instructor certification from national organization (if applicable).
- Experience in aquatics or land fitness instructor.
- Very strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Present self professionally in appearance and mannerism at all times.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours from time to time, including evenings or weekends.
- Infrequent travel: 0-10 days/year.
- Pass a criminal history background check and FBI fingerprint check.
- Ability to relate well with a variety of populations.

- Regularly lift and/or move equipment and furnishings. Very physical job.
- Work on a computer up to eight (8) hours a day.
- Occasionally work at outdoor and indoor events for extended periods of time.
