Job Summary
Directs activities for the after-school program to provide a safe, healthy, and organized environment with age appropriate social, creative, and educational activities for children in the participating school districts. Assists with summer day camps as needed during summer months.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Implement the program in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the YWCA.
  • Prepares and submits yearly program budget to finance department for the region and Youth Programs Division Director for approval.
  • Communicates for the region with scholarship manager and front office regarding enrollments, withdrawals, and other changes in care.
  • Directly supervise and monitor all YWCAre staff in the respective region in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, hire, train regional employees; plan, assign, and direct employee’s daily schedule; evaluate employee performance, reward and/or discipline employees in accordance to policies; and address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Authorize purchases of instructional and teaching materials needed for the region’s program.
  • Confer with parents regarding facility activities, policies, and enrollment procedures.
  • Confer with staff regarding children behavioral and/or learning styles and recommend methods of modifying inappropriate behavior and encouraging learning experiences.
  • Review and evaluate programs and activities to ensure conformance to state and local regulations, and if applicable grant compliance.
  • Review and approve appropriate records for the region, such as attendance, meal service, account ledgers, and employee time records.
  • May represent the YWCA in community groups.
  • May carry staff responsibility for special events or other YWCA projects.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • Learn and support the YWCA mission, vision, and policies to meet the goals of the organization without compromise.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience.
  • Qualifies for a director’s certificate from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services- Child Care Licensing
  • 21 years of age and able to provide guidance for administrative support needs.
  • Present self professionally in appearance and mannerism at all times.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with co-workers, employees, and general public.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate records.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, planning, records management, research, and general administration.
  • Must have knowledge of age-appropriate activities, awareness of children’s needs, and accountability of programs.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours from time to time, including evenings or weekends.
  • Infrequent travel: 0-10 days/year.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
  • Pass a criminal history background check and FBI fingerprint check.
